paranormal night!

haven't gone to see any kind of movie in such a long time and when i heard that the paranormal activity was opening this week, i grabbed at a chance to see it. unfortunately, most of my girlfriends are not fond of horror movies, so i ended up inviting my boyfriend's siblings to see it in the cinemas last friday.

outfit: dress c/o kristy thru clothes swap, divi top, vanessa mooney cobra necklace, payless pumps, jacob belt

i was crazy!!! by that, i mean the ticket sales.. there was a 7:40pm show and we decided to get there as early as 7pm for the tickets but they were all gone! we had no choice but to get the next show at 10:20pm.

since we had a lot of time to kill, we figured of just going around the mall and getting sushi for dinner. ooohhh yummy!

we got back in the cinema one hour before the show time (9:20pm) so that we can get good seats, but lo and behold there was already a long long long long long (CRAZY!) line outside all for the paranormal activity 2 screening. ftw?! what even happened was that due to the ticket demand, they closed another different movie to have 2 showings for the same time.

the movie wasn't that bad, i must say.. i was thinking it would suck since there's that curse for sequels or part 2's in movies. it had some good moments and i really loved how they were able to incorporate details from the first movie. but you'll still understand it even though you didn't see that one.

p.s. btw, if you have the time, tieka messaged me last week and told me that she's putting me and the boy up for her ''guy behind the camera'' feature. feel free to check it out on her blog.

Lounge Wing Night

my boyfriend's cousin is a manager for one of the smitty's restaurant in the city so after work, we decided to hit his lounge and grab something to eat.

we were fortunate that it was wing night! so of course, i had to have my favorite flavor: electric honey (that's honey garlic coated chicken wings rolled in lemon pepper)! yummy!

we also got to play the electronic darts which is my new favorite lounge game/activity. i used to play billiards all the time, but the darts are so much easier and quicker to play.

speaking of lounge night, i stumbled upon this new video of the latest single from them: youth called toothache. kinda catchy, i must say...

all in all it was another good night spent with the boy. it has been nice to look forward to seeing him after a long day at work.

Friday, September 3

it's a good day!

thank god it's friday! i have a lot to be happy about today aside from that. first of all, training at work is officially over. starting next week, i get to have my own desk and manage material by myself. speaking of work, i also got my first paycheck, most of which went to paying bills, buying a bus pass and saving up for my calgary visit next month! woot woot!

there was a mosquito on my nose, hahaha!

speaking of calgary, another thing im happy about is that my boyfriend (who's currently there) and i are celebrating our 35th monthsary! aaahhh.. i can't wait to spend time with him again. of course, i decided to wear something extra special today for that occasion -- something red, a pair of high heels and a feminine black dress.

happy monthsary!

finally, i'm able to wear these shoes i got thru chic rewards!

another thing is that the first weekend of this month is a long weekend! for students, that's a sign that school is going to start soon. for someone working like me, it's a paid statutory holiday! hurray!

outfit: divi cardigan, landmark dress, payless shoes thru chic rewards, vanessa mooney necklace

speaking of this new month, i was quite surprised to discover that i was one of the featured runner-ups in suddenly darling's darling of the month contest. basically, suddenly darling is a social networking fashion site that lets you earn points in exchange for gift cards. if you're interested to join, just click here for my referral link.

you know what's awesome?

i heard about 'the book of awesome' through lily. she had this post recently linking this site that related to that book. and once i clicked and saw it, i was hooked! it's basically a blog about well.. awesome things in life.. from the most mundane to the most meaningful and touching.

outfit: urban behaviour dress, dynamite blazer, payless shoes, sirens necklace

i found myself reading through the small posts and relate-able anecdotes throughout the site. it's quite endearing, i should say, because even though you haven't felt or experienced what was mentioned in the list, you still get that feeling that it is something awesome.

if you're like me and you're choosing to be a little bit more optimistic in life, i suggest you go ahead and take a look at that site. it really brought back great memories -- especially those that will make you go: ''ooohhhh, yeaahh.. i know how that feels! awesome!''

as for my own addition to the awesome list? well.. i woke up today to an email from my long time bestfriend back in the philippines. she gave me this link that contained archives of the blog we used to have back in highschool. and o my goodness, i think i died laughing reading through our entries. it's quite embarrassing how shallow we were back then and how our concerns were so minuscule than what i have right now.

another awesome thing? just recently with the concluded ms. universe pageant, i stumbled upon this. if you're from the philippines, you probably know how popular the pageant is for the gay community. this video showcased their reaction when ms. philippines got in the first cut (top 15). even if you don't understand what they're saying, their reactions are just priceless! hahahaha! too awesome!

so how about you? what made you feel awesome today?

love the way you lie..

im not a big hiphop rap fan, but once in a while i do appreciate good music, meaningful lyrics and a great awesome music video! i jsut need to say that this is intense! i never knew how to get around to making this a fashion post, but i guess i don't need to.

and i quote accesswinnipeg, this is...
Eminem proving he’s still one of the greatest rappers out there.
Rihanna proving she can move on after Chris Brown.
Dominic Monaghan proving there is still life after Lost.
Megan Fox proving she’s still the hottest girl in the world -- even without Transformers.

It's so funny how we all talk about this hot weather. It's killing me. I feel at times I don't want to go outside and take pictures without burning up or sweating. You look great. I love simplicity of the colors.

yes yes, i totally know what you mean with the weather.. the thing is, i really shouldn't hate that it's this hot right now because half of the year, we have snow. we are pretty lucky to be having this much heat and sunshine. it's just been so hard to dress up. before even leaving the house, i feel like im sweating buckets already! hahaha!! how about the rest of you? how's the weather treating you in your city lately?

keep breathing...

the weather cooperated with my mood today. it was dreary, cloudy and gloomy. i can even hear thunders while typing this and it's 11pm already.

i've been running some errands at the university this week so there has been a slow down in postings and blog hopping, i apologize if i haven't gotten back to anyone.

i think i deserve to vent once in awhile because sometimes, even though life seems to be fine, it slaps you in the face and makes you feel worthless, unproductive and just plain stupid.

i've been drowning myself with maria mena, ingrid michaelson and elisa's songs until i fall asleep.

Tuesday, June 8

don't call my name..

you know how you have one of those days when you feel like crap and you feel like you're not getting anything done.. feeling so unproductive and admittedly being frustrated in life? well, that's today for me. so i apologize for this post will be quick and short.

outfit: AA lace bodysuit, zara trousers, gojane oxfords, suzy shier belt

the maxi dress resurfaces...

i figured that there is no better way to wear a maxi dress but today. it has been windy but sunny here in winnipeg, so the huge amount of fabric goes well with the blowing of the wind and my floppy straw hat is perfect under the sun and over my dishevelled hair! hahaha!

outfit: gifted maxi dress, walmart hat, janylin wedges

very worn out.. *tear*
on to some tv news...
did anyone watch glee yesterday? they had a lady gaga (and kiss) episode where they did bad romance and pokerface. and aside from that, they got to reinvent lady gaga's famous looks and outfits! hahahaha! look at them, so fun!!!
and since we're on the topic of lady gaga, have you heard of greyson chance?

well i just thought you'd enjoy that.. :)

Comment of the Day: Bad Taste Toast

eat, pray, love

today's weather has been anything but sunny -- very cloudy and muggy. and based on my blog hopping, i've been seeing the same occurrence in different areas here in canada and us.

i decided to whip out some pieces in my closet that i haven't been able to wear for a long time., such as the dress and my oxfords. with regards to this dress, look out "clothes swappers", i just might put this in my list. i have too many black dresses with this same shape so it will probably be utilized by someone else.

outfit: smart set top, landmark dress, gojane oxfords, joe fresh belt
i was watching oprah awhile ago and she featured this upcoming movie by julia roberts. im not a big reader so it was only now that i discovered that the movie is based on a book, "eat, pray, love". im quite excited to see this on the theaters. i love feel good movies like this and i think that the scenery and script is amazing.

if you can eat, pray, love anywhere in the world, where would you be?
i would eat in mexico, pray in rome, and love in paris/nyc

Comment of the Day: Felicia Ynez
ahhhh omgosh. those kababs looks so delicious. wow i'm hungry. and i love your big bird shirt. haha. fashion seriously needs to be less serious some times. and I know I didn't let you know earlier, but I'd love to be in on your swap email!

i totally know and agree with what you mean when it comes to having fun and more spontaneous fashion choices! and yes, i did send you an email already regarding the swap! hope to hear from you soon. :)

i was browsing through my closet and cabinets when i stumbled upon this striped headband and lace brooch that i have neglected for months. i wasn't really wearing any accessories with this outfit today, but i thought they actually went well with it.. what do you think?

outfit: divi cardigan, jacob top, old navy shorts, keds sneakers

f21 brooch & sm headband

as for my exciting news...
i have been recently contacted by someone to cover a launch for their fashion site. at first i wasn't sure what to make of it, but after seeing this video, i decided that their pieces, style and vibe is too fun to pass up.

Kyle Johnson X Sway from Phillip Conover on Vimeo.

Sway.com is a website where we give women the dream fashion job of being the designer and buyer of the brand, Sway. their site will be launched tomorrow and to be honest, im probably as curious and interested as you are. im looking forward to seeing what items they'll be having on sale (hopefully lots of summer dresses!) and i will definitely update you guys on how to avail of the deals.

Asian Movie Festival

i went out tonight with my bf and a couple of friends to see a film screening of filipino movie in the university. this week was asian movie festival week and each day there was a designated country participating and showing a local movie. for the last night (which is tonight), philippines was highlighted and we watched the movie, Ploning.

most of you may not understand it, but don't you think that the scenery is breath taking. it just made me miss the tropical weather and the beaches back home. i wont be the perfect person to explain the story. but thank god for IMDB.

Ploning, is a story of one mans search for the enigmatic woman who has deeply wounded him in the past. Having grown up in an illegal Taiwanese fishing vessel, Rodrigo (30 years old) returns to the beautiful island of Cuyo and is given from sunrise to sunset to look for his Ploning. In his search, he discovers that the woman he loved and adored as a boy is not the woman he thought he knew. Ploning has displayed her maternal love for Digo ( the 6-year old Rodrigo) but is shrouded in her mysterious love and devotion for Tomas, her childhood sweetheart who left her when she was 16. This 30-year-old spinster who has held a special place amongst the people as a dutiful daughter, a devoted friend, a caring sister and a loving maternal figure is slowly unveiled through Rodrigos memory and an emotional meeting with Plonings confidante, Seling. Through his search, Ploning will be revealed as the islands most bittersweet source of selfless love.

so there..
aside from that, it was good to see my university friends. since i haven't been in school, i rarely see them and it was nice to get together and catch up with their university life. teehee!

oh yeah, i was having doubts on whether to post this outfit or not. i was just looking through my closet and pulled out whatever items i haven't used for a long time, hence the plaid jacket & red tunic. what do you think?
outfit: gifted jacket, mariposa tunic, celine shoes, garage leggings
i would appreciate honest ratings in my chictopia

oh btw, i was browsing thru blogs and out of nowhere, i thought to myself: how random can the word verification terms be?!
i don't know why i thought of that too. im just a very random person, i guess. hahaha! so here's the deal, when you comment below, would it be possible for you to indicate the verification word that you had to type. im just interested to know. teehee!

something new

i just finished posting my outfit pictures in chictopia and i mentioned there of how i've been in such a fashion rut lately. i don't want to bore you with those things so let me just share what i wore today.
outfit: sm jacket, people are people shirt, divi skirt, garage leggings

basically went to the mall today to pick up some stuff in sephora. also the gap is having some sweaters on sale (below $10), so if you're living in a cold place like i am, now is the best time to go! :D

oohh.. and remember what i said about redoing my nails from the last post? well, here they are right now!!!
how to get polka dots? just use a toothpick to make 'em!

on other news.. apple launch it's newest gadget yet! i know some of you have seen or heard it on the news so without further ado....

i dont really care much about my gadgets. i don't take sides when it comes to the windows-mac battle, but this actually looks good. i know of a couple of people who has clearly bashed this new thing, but i think it's quite amazing. love the fact that it's compact and has a big screen. but i must say that it's quite pricey. still, i have to applaud apple for impeccable design and marketing strategies! more info here.

what do you think?
