one for 2011

hey all!!! still remember me?? i know i've been gone for so long. i guess i was just having too much fun during the holidays. teehee!! im slowly trying to go back on track and back to my regular routine so pardon the long absence here.

i haven't been taking photos of my outfits even though i've accumulated a lot of new things over the holidays; some were given to me as gifts and some, i got during boxing day. hopefully, i'll be able to share them with you soon!
for now, im keeping this update post short and sweet and leaving you with some photos from our new year festivities here in the city!

btw, some people were asking me where i got the french macaroons from (previous post). if you live in winnipeg, you can have them made to order from "the french way". it's a cafe & catering place in academy.

a wedding reception

last saturday night, i was able to attend a wedding reception of a family friend of ours. it was a wonderful night filled with good food, endless dancing, camwhoring and of course love love love (it's a wedding for crying out loud, hahaha!)

newly wed couple!

the overall theme of the venue was very classic and glamorous with red-black-white colors all over the hall. it was really beautiful! after some welcome greetings and prayers, dinner was served.

menu, program & entourage

table number and centerpiece

white wine please?

bread & butter

caesar salad

chicken kiev with steamed veggies

raspberry mousse cake
after dinner, they even opened a candy section area so of course i just had to grab a couple of gobstoppers and mars bars; then posed in the lobby for the event wall photo before i headed to the dance floor!

CANDY STATION!

outfit's just a redo of my previous post's
wow.. a handful of photos there, eh?

as i've mentioned, the next few days will be a bit hectic for me but i can't wait for it to end since im really looking to something amazing this weekend. aaahhhhh!!! plus, i'm announcing the winner of my giveaway so Don't Forget to Enter my CSN Stores Giveaway!

in 4.5 inches glory!

when i discovered that the dress code was business casual (in the most casual sense), i decided to wear my harem pants to work. i think i wear them best with high heels, so i went for it.

outfit: divi cardigan & harem pants, f21 top, sirens necklace, celine pumps

you see, im all about heels and wedges because i'm short and i don't mind wearing them. luckily, i own pairs that are comfy and that can last me for the whole day without getting blisters. plus, in my job, im just in my desk the whole day except for coffee and lunch breaks; elevators are nearby; and as soon as i step out of the building, my bus stop is there (therefore, no long walking needed)

and guess what? the day i decided to wear my heels was the day that the building decided to have a fire drill. so what, you may ask? well.. i forgot to mention that our office is on the 14th floor and i had to go down the stairs with my 4.5 inched heels!! aaaaahhhh!! it wasn't that bad that day. but the following day, my legs became super sore!!!! hahahahaha! i'm so unfit!

anyway, after work, i attended my cousin's party at their place. i just devoured all the good food in there, so much for trying to stay fit, eh?

You know, I like the proportions of your outfit but I think it would be more succesful if the print on the skirt was different. I feel its a little too boho/hippie for the neon colors of the shirt. Maybe a maxi in a solid color or really large, black and white geometric print would work.
Doesn't change the fact that you're still adorable :)

i totally agree.. the patterns/designs sort of clash noh? but i really wanted to try the contrast of the cropped top and maxi skirt and since those pieces were the only one i own, i just had to try it out. teehee!!! thanks for the suggestion. will definitely look into it! :D

family time

the weather hasn't been the greatest. it's been rainy and really gloomy, but i'm slowly enjoying the cool temperatures. it's making me pull out my cardigans and tights for my outfits.

outfit: old navy cardigan, top from clothes swap, uo scalloped shorts, payless pumps & tights
layering is something that i really need to 'practice' on and it's helping me in transitioning some of my summer pieces to fall (like these scalloped shorts). i apologize if my photos are just so poor. the lighting and indoor background is just not cooperating well, no?

jewelry: shopbop necklace, forever21 rings
more than my outfit, i wanted to take this time to tell you how much i've been spending time with my nephews for the past few weeks. they're moving to the states this sunday since their dad got a full time job there. it's bittersweet since i'll really miss them, but it's pretty nice to have family over there to visit one day.

aawww....

P.S. as im spending time with them and slowly settling into my new job, i might not be able to respond to your comments and emails as fast as before. i hope you all understand!

Love it! very classy. Have a great first day at work!

thanks dear!! speaking of work.. first day in the job wasn't that bad. i feel so grown up walking around downtown with other working people. hahahahaha! first 2 weeks will consist of pure training since we need to familiarize ourselves with the insurance terminologies and systems. and oh, i'll probably save it for another post, but they're pretty lenient with the dress code so yay for me and my closet! :)

three birds, one stone..

so here's the deal. today was packed with numerous activities so i want to forewarn you of the length of this post. i hope you don't mind me talking about a number of things today..

so this is my "im in a hurry to write all of these things in one blog post" face
first off, it is/was food tripping thursdays (depending on when you're able to read this)! today my family and i celebrate my graduation and my brother's bday. we invited a number of relatives and friends to come at buffet square for the double event. as part of food tripping thursdays, i'd like to share some food shots i took of the dishes we indulged in for lunch!

hungry yet?
next on the list? after eating at the buffet, i spent the afternoon roaming around the city. it was my first time to join in the crowd downtown since every canada day(for the past 4 years) was spent at the park with family and relatives.

first stop was osborne village where they closed down the street for some major partying. the younger, wilder and more experimental crowd can be seen here and the boutiques were having a no-tax event and some good deals along the street.

second stop was the forks market where they had the whole space filled with family friendly activities and more partying. as part of food tripping thursdays still, let me share with you photos of what we had after spending hours walking around the market.

poutine with cajun powder!
lastly, before i go, here's the outfit i had for today. during the buffet lunch, i had the striped top on since it was indoors and we were in an air-conditioned environment. the rest of the day, i decided to change into something cooler because the heat today was just unbearable. it was like the whole city was an oven toaster, seriously..

outfit: aritzia striped top, old navy top, joe fresh shorts, keds sneakers, forever 21 purse

this hat was a lifesaver!

special shoutout to Arianne for the camera used for all the photos in this post. thank you lots!!!
