haven't gone to see any kind of movie in such a long time and when i heard that the paranormal activity was opening this week, i grabbed at a chance to see it. unfortunately, most of my girlfriends are not fond of horror movies, so i ended up inviting my boyfriend's siblings to see it in the cinemas last friday.
i was crazy!!! by that, i mean the ticket sales.. there was a 7:40pm show and we decided to get there as early as 7pm for the tickets but they were all gone! we had no choice but to get the next show at 10:20pm.
since we had a lot of time to kill, we figured of just going around the mall and getting sushi for dinner. ooohhh yummy!
we got back in the cinema one hour before the show time (9:20pm) so that we can get good seats, but lo and behold there was already a long long long long long (CRAZY!) line outside all for the paranormal activity 2 screening. ftw?! what even happened was that due to the ticket demand, they closed another different movie to have 2 showings for the same time.
the movie wasn't that bad, i must say.. i was thinking it would suck since there's that curse for sequels or part 2's in movies. it had some good moments and i really loved how they were able to incorporate details from the first movie. but you'll still understand it even though you didn't see that one.
p.s. btw, if you have the time, tieka messaged me last week and told me that she's putting me and the boy up for her ''guy behind the camera'' feature. feel free to check it out on her blog.
i think having july 1 on a thursday slightly messed up my biological clock. for some reason, i feel like today is a weekday. baaaahh!! anyway, i was meaning to post this last night but i was just too exhausted to type and upload photos..
this shirt im wearing is actually the one i got from threadless.com during their $10 tee sale. i got one for myself and one for my bf. i sent it to him by mail and he received it last tuesday. to celebrate our monthsary yesterday, we wore it together. i told him to take photos of it, but he hasn't sent them to me yet. hahahaha! i know, i know.. i'm cheesy like that. :p
HAPPY CHEESE!!
i went to see avatar, the last airbender last night too. i was a little bit disappointed with the movie since the acting was crap and there were too much talking and less fighting scenes. if you don't watch the cartoon series, i think you'll have a hard time appreciating the movie as a whole. after that, we grabbed a bite by moxie's and we called it a night.
can i just say how completely exhausted im feeling lately. as much as i love this heat and humidity, it is draining me to bits. i have a couple of posts waiting to be typed and published, but i haven't gotten the energy to do so. i have even fallen behind in checking out blog posts and comments (sorry!).
happy graduation, dear! so does that mean you'll be part of the workforce now? hehe. you look cute in the straw hat!
thanks! yes, i have been trying my best to get a job! aaacckk! it's been months and still no luck! hopefully with this new month will bring more opportunities for me.. :) i can't wait for the day when i can finally blog about a job i got!
today's weather has been anything but sunny -- very cloudy and muggy. and based on my blog hopping, i've been seeing the same occurrence in different areas here in canada and us.
i decided to whip out some pieces in my closet that i haven't been able to wear for a long time., such as the dress and my oxfords. with regards to this dress, look out "clothes swappers", i just might put this in my list. i have too many black dresses with this same shape so it will probably be utilized by someone else.
outfit: smart set top, landmark dress, gojane oxfords, joe fresh belt
i was watching oprah awhile ago and she featured this upcoming movie by julia roberts. im not a big reader so it was only now that i discovered that the movie is based on a book, "eat, pray, love". im quite excited to see this on the theaters. i love feel good movies like this and i think that the scenery and script is amazing.
if you can eat, pray, love anywhere in the world, where would you be? i would eat in mexico, pray in rome, and love in paris/nyc
ahhhh omgosh. those kababs looks so delicious. wow i'm hungry. and i love your big bird shirt. haha. fashion seriously needs to be less serious some times. and I know I didn't let you know earlier, but I'd love to be in on your swap email!
i totally know and agree with what you mean when it comes to having fun and more spontaneous fashion choices! and yes, i did send you an email already regarding the swap! hope to hear from you soon. :)
i totally had no time to post of what transpired yesterday so let me make it up to you. i went out with my bf to his side of the city. you see, he's staying at the southeast part of calgary, while my stuff are here in the northwest side in my cousin's house. so i took the train and met up with him so that he can show me around in the 'south' area of the city.
outfit: AA tunic & scarf, suzy shier blazer, dynamite leggings, le chateau boots
we went to the chinook centre and i was so happy to finally see a greater variety of retail stores! in winnipeg, we don't have zara so when i saw the store i was ecstatic to enter it and see what goodies i can purchase! teehee!
after a few hours of walking around the mall, my bf's cousin called him up and decided to watch a movie that night in the same mall. we ended up watching "percy jackson & the olympians the lightning thief". it was an average movie. predictable plot, ok visual effects, average acting. let's just say that i could have waited for the dvd/blu ray version of it. that was the day more or less, i spent a good few hours uploading pictures from the previous day when we went to the zoo. it's in my multiply so if you're interested to see what we did in the zoo, click this.
i went out tonight with my bf and a couple of friends to see a film screening of filipino movie in the university. this week was asian movie festival week and each day there was a designated country participating and showing a local movie. for the last night (which is tonight), philippines was highlighted and we watched the movie, Ploning.
most of you may not understand it, but don't you think that the scenery is breath taking. it just made me miss the tropical weather and the beaches back home. i wont be the perfect person to explain the story. but thank god for IMDB.
Ploning, is a story of one mans search for the enigmatic woman who has deeply wounded him in the past. Having grown up in an illegal Taiwanese fishing vessel, Rodrigo (30 years old) returns to the beautiful island of Cuyo and is given from sunrise to sunset to look for his Ploning. In his search, he discovers that the woman he loved and adored as a boy is not the woman he thought he knew. Ploning has displayed her maternal love for Digo ( the 6-year old Rodrigo) but is shrouded in her mysterious love and devotion for Tomas, her childhood sweetheart who left her when she was 16. This 30-year-old spinster who has held a special place amongst the people as a dutiful daughter, a devoted friend, a caring sister and a loving maternal figure is slowly unveiled through Rodrigos memory and an emotional meeting with Plonings confidante, Seling. Through his search, Ploning will be revealed as the islands most bittersweet source of selfless love.
so there.. aside from that, it was good to see my university friends. since i haven't been in school, i rarely see them and it was nice to get together and catch up with their university life. teehee! oh yeah, i was having doubts on whether to post this outfit or not. i was just looking through my closet and pulled out whatever items i haven't used for a long time, hence the plaid jacket & red tunic. what do you think?
outfit: gifted jacket, mariposa tunic, celine shoes, garage leggings i would appreciate honest ratings in my chictopia
oh btw, i was browsing thru blogs and out of nowhere, i thought to myself: how random can the word verification terms be?! i don't know why i thought of that too. im just a very random person, i guess. hahaha! so here's the deal, when you comment below, would it be possible for you to indicate the verification word that you had to type. im just interested to know. teehee!
for reasons more than one, i think that this week is just amazing!! i was looking at mymanitoba.com and saw the 5-day forecast. goodness!!! we don't get positive temperatures during winter and certainly we don't get anything above -10 during january. aaaahh!!! 5 degrees? sunny? tomorrow? beach, perhaps? hahahaha! i kid, i kid. :P
aside from that, i received my new shoes in the mail. they're from gojane.com. it took them about 2 weeks to get here, which is a bit long but im quite surprised with the item i got. they're much more than i expected since i've heard bad quality rants about their shoes. but, upon seeing mine, i was quite pleased. they're exactly what i was looking for plus a bit more.
i love that it had a rich dark brown color and 0.5 inch heels (i thought they were going to be super flat).
i just need to test them out to see their comfort level.
oh oh.. i stumbled upon this new version of the karate kid. it stars jaden smith and jackie chan. probably not gonna be as epic as the original version, but just as entertaining (based on the trailer).
hope you will have a good week ahead. now off i go to more job hunting...
i know this movie is from a couple of months ago but it was only now that i got to rent the bluray disc and watch it with my bf. i've been meaning to see this because i've heard that the soundtrack to this movie would be my type of music: magical, whimsical, indie, pleasant and just acoustic quirky goodness. and i totally got more than wonderful music from this movie.
no, i'm not your movie expert and quite frankly, i just started watching random hollywood movies when i got here in canada (since there is nothing much to do when it's winter time!). thus, i don't really mind whether you agree or disagree with my 'review'. teehee!
anyway, on to the movie. so 500 days of summer is your typical boy meets girl story, falls in love kind of deal and well.. i don't want to spoil the ending. hahaha! but what i totally adored about it is how they presented the plot with the flashbacks rotated in the different 'days of summer' and how they incorporated the animation within the movie itself. if you've watched juno and remember that first part where they were drawing the sceneries and backgrounds for the main actors, that's the same idea in this movie but with a more romantic twist.
i also think that the 2 main actors in this movie were the perfect people to play the characters of summer and tom. i have this weakness for awkward characters and that's probably why i loved them both here. plus, their outfits were so stunning!!! summer's clothes were so adorable and picture perfect all the time! tom's were so neat and just charming. pics from wearability.posterous.com & londonnet.co.uk
as i've mentioned, the soundtrack is my kind of music. cool, easy to the ears, refreshing and just something that will make you feel good. it went so well with the whole vibe of the movie. with the likes of regina spektor, feist, vagabond and yes, even mumm-ra, how can you go wrong?! :) here some music and see some videos here.
overall, i totally loved this movie! (heck of course i'll probably gonna end up giving reviews to those that i like, yes? hahahaha!)
I love the soundtrack - tribal meditative tunes..aaaah! so powerful! I love the animation and effects - real people and the animated creatures were just seamlessly together in every scene, it's freaking AMAZING! I love the plot - had a moral story that is so apt for what's happening today without being too cheesy I love the typical story - follow adventures of how lame guy becomes a warrior and then a hero who saves the world. I mean, everyone falls for that, right?!! hahaha!
I mean, If this movie doesn't blow your mind, you have serious problems!!!!
