care for some denim?

i've been in my current job for about 3 months now and it's only this time that i've worn jeans! hahaha!! yes, i only own about 2 decent pairs of denim and maybe a couple more that are so worn out that i use them just to run errands around the city.

i'm really not that comfortable with jeans to be honest so if i can wear loose trousers or more often, skirts/dresses, i'd do that everyday. plus, i can't find a good pair that's affordable and has the perfect length for me. it always boils down to me having it cut or having to cuff it like right now with this outfit.

outfit: suzy shier jacket, kismet loose tee, aa circle scarf, forever 21 jeans, gojane oxfords

i decided to even go a bit street and urban with the leather jacket and the tie dye circle scarf i got from chic swap.

oh btw, i went to meet up with one of my girlfriends, Arianne, last weekend. she's off to toronto for a 5-day vacation so i thought it would be nice to hang out in a nearby lounge before she leaves. i got some chicken quesadillas and fried cheesecake!

ooohh really? haven't checked etsy stores for the longest time! i've been wandering around ebay lately trying to find cheap boots and blouses.. anyone here knows of any good ebay or etsy sites? i would prefer those that carry sizes for curvier girls like me! :D

back to basics

after some of my rants on the humid and hot weather, it turned on me and gave the city a full down pour for the past 4 days or so. the bad thing is, i haven't been able to take photos of my outfits. the good thing is, i have a couple of outfits that i haven't shown you so all in all, i have come prepared in case i run out of things to post about.

for such a long time, i've wanted to debut these sandals that i got from scarpasa through chictopia's rewards system. scarpasa was kind enough to send me a nude pair and i couldn't be happier! i think the nude really has that effect of disappearing on my skintone and therefore becoming more flattering.

since i wanted the sandals to be the main focus, i kept everything basic with a pair of jeans and a crisp white shirt. provided we have casual fridays at work, i can definitely see myself wearing this outfit a lot of times.

oh btw, speaking of chictopia, im trying to be a contributing editor for Everybody is Ugly. if you're a member, you'll definitely know what i'm talking about. one of the writing sample i submitted involved this white shirt+denim jeans look. i picked out some other chictopians who styled this ensemble in their own individual way. feel free to view, vote and comment on it HERE!

aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!! have you guys seen the newest Jeffrey Campbell shoes from their Fall/Winter collection!? i was browsing solestruck last night and found myself oooohhh-ing and aaahhh-ing at the new arrivals on the site. i still can't get over them. just look at those architectural wedges/heels/soles!!! aaahhh!!!

you see, i have enough black shoes to last me a whole season. whenever i go to the mall and look for shoes, i try to stay away from black pairs, just to keep my shoe collection more varied. but these babies are making me think twice. aaahhhh! im sure though that JC will come up of different fabrics, patterns and colors for these styles, i just have to be a bit more patient.

oh shucks, i wish i can go to the chictopia summit, but unfortunately i can't since i don't have a canadian passport yet (citizenship technicalities). as for being a vip, i believe either you get invited or you ask someone to accept your vip request.

styling tip, anyone?

so one of the newer items in my closet is this drapey assymetrical ella moss tank top that i redeemed from fashionistette through the chic rewards. i've been wanting to wear it out this summer since the fabric is really soft and comfy, plus the cut is airy and fun to twirl around in, hahaha!

the only small concern i have is, i've been trying to think of more ways to style it up. i know i can easily pair it with my skinny jeans, but i wanted to try and stretch its functionality by pairing it with some other bottoms. i don't know if my ensemble experiments turned out well, but i was hoping to create a sort of seamless flowy look by pairing the top with skirts. i paired it with a high waisted one and also a pencil cut one.

outfit: kismet skirt, divi skirt, belt c/o jen thru clothes swap, joe fresh flats, wetseal sandals

i'm thinking of wearing it with some tights or leggings, but the front part is just too short. i don't really want to fall in that category of people who wear leggings/tights as pants since im not the most comfortable person in that look. so i need your help, guys.. if you have any idea on how i can wear this chic reward, do share!

Aaahh, yes! cold stone also recently opened here and it has the same concept of marble slab. too expensive for ice cream but they're worth it once in awhile, i must say. as for calgary, im still contemplating. darn, i can't make up my mind, can i?

lazy weekend

the weekend was perfect for a day at the beach. unfortunately, i can't seem to find someone to go with me so when i was invited for a get together last saturday, i grabbed the opportunity to stay outdoors and enjoy the sun.

on a completely different topic, i was recently tagged to do a "what's in your purse" post. i have been meaning to share it with you, but never got the chance to take photos. anyway, here's what i keep in my bag: not much, may i add..

f21 purse: LV knockoff wallet, keys, digital camera, mints, carmex, joe fresh concealer, biotherm lotion

depending on the occasion, i'd have additional make-up, perfume and other items in my purse.
(note: i do not own a cellphone or an mp3 player!)

denim nation

one of the trends i've been seeing around this spring and summer is the use of denim or chambray as clothing fabric.

i haven't been used to wearing anything denim or chambray because when i was still living in the philippines, the weather gets intensely hot and humid that i always resorted to more flowy and airy skirts and dresses. the good thing now is, stores/designers/companies have found a way to make denim softer and lighter. as a matter of fact i have recently received a denim dress by voom from fashionistette (through chictopia) and it's one amazing piece. i never thought that kind of fabric can fit that well on my body but it did. i was actually just browsing through their site and found out that the dress is currently on sale there.
now, i dont have to worry about getting a dress for my convocation on june! yay!
