first week at work

sooo.. i know some of you may be curious as to how my first days at work went. well, i got acquainted with the building and offices that i'll be working at. we're basically on training mode for the next 2-3 weeks since there are some complicated terminologies and procedures to follow in assessing data.

aside from that, the week has just been about trying my best to wake up early, keeping myself alert throughout the day with lattes, sitting in front of the computer reading tons of guidelines and madly keeping up with rush hour traffic.

outfit: joe fresh top, talula skirt, celine pumps, sm headband
as for the dress code? well, they are actually very lenient. this outfit that i'm wearing is pretty dressy in comparison to the other people in the building. some people were even wearing runners, hoodies and denims (casual fridays), but of course im taking my job as the proper excuse to dress up. why wear runners if i can wear heels and wedges?!

it's really nice to be able to say that i have a real job now. i mean, it's not my field or anything, but for me i take it more as a foot in the door type of deal. it's been surreal for me to walk around downtown with the rest of the "working population", hahaha! i'm so shallow, yes? i guess it's only now that it's sinking in me that i actually am done with school and im being a productive part of society.

now it's the weekend. time to relax and party!

  7. cute! I love the outfit. Right now I'm jobless (not by choice) and the thing that sounds most appealing to me when I finally do get a job is a chance to shop and dress up, haha.

  14. I know what you mean by:
"some people were even wearing runners, hoodies and denims (casual fridays), but of course im taking my job as the proper excuse to dress up."

That's exactly my view, too! Everybody here is so laid back and I'm one of the 3 female employees who always wear heels. I like dressing up for work. It's a challenge to find out what's appropriate and what's not, but that allows me to be more creative with my wardrobe :) (or shop more for new "work" clothes!) Hahaha...

You look absolutely amazing, Sybil. I said everything I needed to say about this outfit on your Chictopia page :)

Re: F21 shoe porn. YES, I saw the JC Draped knock-offs too! The nude ones are much better than the black ones (look cheap!) Go get them, girl. They're not that pricey, right? But my suggestion is save your first paycheck for your first JC pair :)

And congrats on the StyleScoop feature! Thanks so much for mentioning me in it :)

  24. Kudos on joining the workforce, and for managing to dress up in an elegant business-casual (but still very chic)-- something that I have to push myself to aspire at times -- as I work with kids, I'm stuck in the rut of jeans and sneakers (flip flops at times, gasp!)...

I love the drawing of you some posts back :-)
