My Way, Her Way, Their Way: Print on Print

For those of you who do not know, 'My Way, Her Way' is a monthly collaboration of my take and Bestie's (The Capricious Club) take on current trends roaming around the fashion world. On our first post, we featured the socks and sandals trend which can be seen here. For this and succeeding installments of "My Way, Her Way", we are opening up the floor to feature two additional bloggers each having their own take of the trend. Hence, now we're officially naming it: My Way, Her Way, Their Way.

For this second post, we're featuring the trend on mixing prints. At first, I was feeling a bit sceptical with it since I have never tried it before. I don't own a lot of printed items in my closet, but one of my recent online purchase was this scalloped shorts from Urban Outfitters. I just thought that this post is the perfect time to debut them.
Bestie and I invited Kristy of Monochromachic and Kookie of Death by Platforms to join in the fun! Upon seeing their photos, I was amazed at how well they were able to style the clashing prints. Bestie kept it perfect for the tropical weather back in the Philippines with the yellow watercolor stroke patterns matched with the sheer leopard print. Kristy did a classic ensemble with a romantic twist using black and white prints. Kookie on the other hand really went with bold tribal patterns to keep it edgy and unique.

I, on the other hand, tried my best mixing stripes and hearts. Yeah, my shorts had little hearts in them. They weren't just abstract blotches, hahahaha! As I found this trend a bit challenging to follow, I think one key to pulling it off is leaving the rest of the outfit basic and simple. As you will see, I just chose to pair the ensemble with my white keds.

outfit: jacob top, uo shorts, keds sneakers

Hope you enjoyed reading through this. Watch out for the 3rd installment! If you have any suggestions as to what trends you'd want us to try out next time, feel free to shoot me an email at libys11(at)yahoo(dot)com.

  14. All these outfits look great! I love your shorts, they're super cute. As you mentioned, I think it's important to keep the rest of the outfit quite simple so it doesn't end up looking too overcrowded.
